It's always amazing to me what people find "confrontational" - possibly because I've always been taught that the truth sets you free, I look for and absorb every thing, idea and emotion that leads to personal liberation. If I find an idea distasteful, I have to ask myself what it is that I'm trying to avoid - its reality, or its illusion? I have been working on a number of vignettes to get back into the drawing rhythm, small drawings that immediately capture an idea or emotion. They are created on A4 size paper, and finished in one layer. Simple small one-of-a-kind treasures that would go well in a personal space or private area.

Pop culture has redefined the terms of art as far as the mainstream is concerned - the "people's artist" has become something of a centralised theme, with the majority of the audience recognising this as the height of art. What is not widely recognised is how that came to be. Beginning with Andy Warhol, a man who was trained as a commercial artist and designer, who reinvented himself as a blank canvas, without identity, so that others could write their own interpretations of who he was in their own minds and reviews.
